I can't bank on a three-year period at Man Utd - Amorim

Manchester United head coach

United's manager - here being consoled post May's European final loss - states he is happy by the investor's extended support but underscored that what lies ahead is unknown in soccer.

United's manager Amorim believes it's crucial Sir Jim Ratcliffe went public with his long-term thoughts - but states nothing is guaranteed about the next day in soccer, never mind three seasons.

During a discussion with The Times last week, the co-owner stated it might require the head coach three seasons to produce meaningful results at Old Trafford.

Emerging in an era when the coach's tenure has been facing examination in the wake of a lengthy stretch of disappointing results, the words contributed to reducing some of the immediate pressure.

Yet, discussing prior to the hundredth encounter with traditional foes Liverpool at their home ground, the manager stressed that tomorrow is difficult to forecast in soccer.

"It's certainly beneficial to receive that message but he informs me all the time, sometimes with a message following matches - but understand, I realize and Ratcliffe understands, that soccer doesn't work that way," he said.

"The vital factor is the following fixture. Despite having backers, you cannot dictate tomorrow in soccer."

Top executive Omar Berrada has conceded it has required far longer for the manager to adapt to the Premier League subsequent to his appointment from his former club in November than anyone imagined.

United have won 10 successes in 34 league games during Amorim's tenure. They are yet to win two league games in a row and have not ended a fixture schedule in the current term above ninth position.

The worrying figures are stretching belief in Amorim among the Old Trafford faithful entering a stretch of fixtures their team has struggled during for the past two seasons.

The manager stated he does not feel the uncertainty inside the club at the team's practice complex and is adamant nothing equals the expectation he places on the squad - and in some senses, he would rather Ratcliffe to avoid attempting to create tranquility because he fears the effect it might produce on the players.

"It's not just an item of conversation, I feel it every day," he remarked. "It's certainly beneficial to hear it because it benefits our followers to comprehend the management realize it needs a period.

"Yet concurrently, I don't like it because it creates an impression that we own time to solve problems. I don't want that impression in our club.

"The expectation I apply to the team or upon myself is so much bigger [compared to external sources]. In the sport, specifically at large organizations, you need to prove your value each weekend."
