Disputed United States-funded GHF Aid Organization Terminates Humanitarian Work

The disputed, American and Israeli-supported Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) declares it is concluding its aid operations in the Palestinian territory, after almost six months.

The organisation had already suspended its three food distribution sites in Gaza subsequent to the truce agreement between Hamas and Israel was implemented recently.

The GHF aimed to bypass the UN as the chief distributor of humanitarian assistance to Gazans.

International relief agencies would not collaborate with its methodology, saying it was improper and dangerous.

Hundreds of Palestinians were fatally wounded while seeking food amid chaotic scenes near the foundation's locations, mainly through Israeli military action, as reported by United Nations.

The Israeli military claimed its soldiers fired cautionary rounds.

Mission Completion

The foundation announced on the beginning of the week that it was terminating work now because of the "effective conclusion of its emergency mission", with a cumulative three million shipments containing the corresponding to over 187 million food portions distributed to Gazans.

The GHF's executive director, the foundation leader, further mentioned the American-directed Civil-Military Coordination Center - which has been set up to help carry out the American administration's Gaza initiative - would be "taking over and developing the approach the organization demonstrated".
