Charli XCX Plays a Dark Alter Ego of Herself in Mockumentary First Look

The Grammy-winning artist is gearing up for a significant film onslaught in 2026, beginning with the mockumentary titled The Moment.

In the film, Charli embodies what she refers to as a hell version of her public image.

It’s the realest depiction of the music business that I’ve ever encountered, the performer commented.

She clarified in a conversation: It’s far from a live performance documentary, but the idea stemmed from the pressure to make one.

A Sneak Peek into The Project

The first teaser, released on recently, combines actual recordings from Charli’s Sweat tour with fictionalized off-stage interactions.

The film is directed and co-written by Aidan Zamiri, who explained that the plot centers on a world where the singer took completely different paths in the publicity of her chart-topping release Brat.

A Hectic Acting Schedule

The film is just one of numerous upcoming screen roles for the musician, who already featured in three festival films this year.

  1. Relationship story Erupcja
  2. Satirical comedy thriller Sacrifice
  3. Modern fairy tale 100 Nights of Hero

She also played herself in the humorous show Overcompensating.

What’s Next

The following year will also feature Charli with Olivia Wilde in sensual story I Want Your Sex, Natalie Portman in gallery suspense The Gallerist, and Barbie Ferreira in scary reboot Faces of Death.

Additionally, she agreed to feature in Dakota Johnson’s directorial debut A Tree in Blue.

I’m thoroughly loving my foray into acting, she expressed. I feel very, very inspired at the moment in that field, and I only ever aim to pursue projects that excite me.

Score Contributions

Next February will also include the release of Emerald Fennell’s interpretation of Wuthering Heights, which will showcase new music from the singer.

She will also create the soundtrack for the film Mother Mary, featuring Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel, set to be released in the coming year.

The Moment will be released on 30 January.
